      Now, I am a techno geek. But, I view technology as a tool. So, I am not a Mac disciple to the exclusion of windows. Nor am I a windows user to the exclusion of Mac.

       I view technology as means to accomplish a task and this is where I'm sure my approach to technology can add value to your marketing campaign.

      My technology view didn't happen overnight.

       It came about slowly. Just a few years ago, I became owner/manager of a computer services business. Every day, customers would bring us a variety of computers and other equipment to repair.

       Each year my little shop would service 400 plus computers. We removed viruses, replace screens, configure modems, tune-up Windows, troubleshoot office, configure smartphones, set up Active Directory, install exchange and more. Additionally, I've built data warehouses, websites, cgi tools, and databases.

       And, after more than 20 years of using and servicing technology I've come to understand where and why users experience pain and joy when using technology.

      So, perhaps you're thinking "Ok, great. You've been around technology for years ... you've fixed a few computers ... set up a few networks ... you rescue a few hundred end-users a year.

       But, I need new clients and I need to get an effective campaign out the door and my sales people need new materials. How does all this help me? I need someone to write copy."

       Well, that's exactly what I do. I write copy for software marketers, technology manufacturers, and technology service providers like you.

       I craft messages that speak to your client's and customer's desires.

       I found with my Repair/Service business clients that there really is an emotional component, and it motivates them to buy new products. And, if your marketing avoids an "emotional appeal" for the sake of appearing "smart" or "intelligent" or "methodical" etc, you're leaving an important segment of your customers sitting on the sideline.

      Here is a secret I learned while training as a copywriter:

"Most marketing efforts leave it up to the customer to figure out if the product can work for them".

       You've seen it. The copy that starts out with the headline "Acme Technologies".

       Then goes on to talk about the largest clients they've serviced; then on to how many years they've been in business; then on to we've been seen on major news networks etc.

       This kind of marketing doesn't give your clients a single reason to order from you!

       In fact, it puts the work of selling the product squarely in the client's lap. And, because the client is left to figure out if the product or service will solve their problem, the client does what anyone who needs more answers does - they look for an eaiser solution.

      For a moment, imagine a different kind of marketing piece. Imagine you have a piece that does all the work for your client.

       It identifies their most important need and offers your service as the only solution.

       It leaves the customer with only one question: "How do I get this product/service so I can solve my problem now?" Could a piece like that get your clients to buy more of your product, attend a seminar, or choose you as their service provider? I think so.
